by Adeboye Amosu:
Poland captain Robert Lewandowski has blamed the side’s lack of bravery as the main reason for their defeat against Nigeria in Friday’s friendly game at the Municipal Stadium, Wroclaw, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.
The Poles went down to a 1-0 defeat in the game with Chelsea wing back Victor Moses winning a penalty and then dusting himself up to convert from the spot in the 61st minute to hand the Super Eagles a win.
The home side created a number of goal scoring opportunities in the game but were let down by their poor marksmanship and fine goalkeeping by Francis Uzoho who grew into the game after a shaky start.
“Maybe we were too scared to attack when we had the ball. Defensively, we looked really good, except for one situation when the player (Victor Moses) passed three players and entered the penalty area,” the Bayern Munich forward was quoted after the game by /sportdziennik.pl.
“We will be training hard to to improve on our performance at the World Cup. I think that Rafał Kurzawa and Przemysław Frankowski played a very good game and showed that they have the quality to play for us.
Lewandowski also stated that the centre referee, Micheal Oliver made a mistake by awarding the penalty that led to the winning goal.
“Nigeria probably did not create too many goal scoring opportunities, in addition, the penalty awarded to them was not a penalty although the referee told me that he whistled because he saw the reaction of “Pebble” Marcin Kaminski.
“We have definetely been able to learnt a lot of lessons from the game and draw many conclusions from it. It’s just a friendly match, so it’s hard to compare, there will definitely be other matches at the World Cup.”

Yes Nigeria won that match but our midfield was not creative thereby starving the attackers with the ball. And our attackers needs to be clinical in front of goal. But if Super Eagles play with same strategy in Russia we might lose it early into the competition .
Bravo to Victor Moses brilliant move that gave Nigeria that Victory .
That penalty was a perfect call!
That penalty was a right call by the referee. Moses showed bravery and experience in that move that resulted to the penalty. I expected lewandowski to criticize that play from their defender rather that denying that it shouldn’t have been a penalty. Maybe his ego made him say that. In the game of football creating chances is importance but burying one is is the hallmark of the game. Kudos super eagles. More work to be done.
Two points from the game
1. We lost possession easily
2. Shehu always gave away fouls at dangerous areas.
Hope the coach works on these
Please we need our captain john Obi mikel!! we fans we don’t want to ear any complain stopping Mikel to play against serbia if not we are going to laoud it for the china league but for now fans where all happy a very big thanks to Indid, Moses, and Ganorth Roar yea all from Ben.
Who the hell is this over-rated Lewandowski? Very arrogant. Was it not the same Lewandowski who was substituted in the game because he couldn’t find his feet? Imagine him referring to our great Victor Moses as (the player). He didn’t even have the decency to call him by his name. Nonsense! Is he better than Victor Moses? No. He seemed to have forgotten that his FIFA over- rated Polish team has failed woefully to score in three straight games now….and still counting….even in games played in their own backyard. It’s true we have flaws in our team which we need to continue working on just like every other team. So my fellow Nigerians, let’s value what we have. Many so-called favorite teams to win the world cup are secretly green with envy about our super eagles, a team full of energy and full of running. Very fit physically and very bold. They dare any team. The other time we defeated the Argentines, it was said that we won because Messi didn’t play, as if soccer is now a one man game. But yesterday, the same Messi did not play, yet the Argentines defeated the Italians by two goals. We are good men….
You make sense bro. Both Aguero and Messi didn’t play yesterday when Argentina pipped Italy 2-0. The problem with us is inferiority complex. Until an African stop seeing the whites as invinsibles, we’ll continue to be backward.
Well done Super Eagles!
Well articulated.
We are good to go, mennnnn…..
Yes the team is good… tactically and physically Nigeria is on top.u could see that 2 of their players got injured and lewandowski and co could not match the physicality of our players lol. Same way Nigeria dispersed the Argentine.
Gentlemen, please, forgive the Polish players and their coach. They were under the false notion that the Super Eagles was just a regular African team and they came into the game ready to conquer.
Losing and in front of their pasionate crowd too was bitter.
Eagles loading more surprises. Ours is a cinderella team.
Gallant Eagler we re set to go . Kudos to V. Moses
