Libya Coach Amrouche Resigns Ahead Of Nigeria Clash

Adel Amrouche has resigned from his position as the head coach of the Libyan national team ahead of Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria in Uyo, reports Completesportsigeria.com

Amrouche revealed that he quit his job after going six months without his salary paid, according to Libyan daily, Alwasat.ly.

Amrouche was appointed Omar Al-Maryami’s successor in May.

The daily also revealed that Al-Maryami will lead the Mediterranean Knights out against Nigeria in Uyo. Al-Maryami has already taken charge of the team’s training in Tunisia following the sudden exit of Amrouche.

Libya occupy the top spot in Group E of the AFCON qualifiers with four points from two games following their 5-1 win over Seychelles in June last year and goalless draw recorded away to South Africa.

South Africa are second with the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference while Nigeria are third with three points from two games. Seychelles are fourth in the standings with no point.

Meanwhile, the Libyan Football Federation confirmed to the Nigerian Football Federation on Monday that a 54–man delegation comprising players, technical crew, backroom staff and LFF officials will fly into Ibom International Airport, Uyo aboard a chartered aircraft on Thursday.

Match officials from the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the referee assessor from Mali and the security officer from South Africa, will arrive in Nigeria on Thursday and then fly to Uyo on Friday morning.

  • Advantage Nigeria. The good luck has already started even before kick off. Lol.

This man was doing a good job for them, so I think it’s a mistake on their part to let him go.

I am sad he wont be there to witness the demolition of his team by the Super Eagles. He was so boastful after their draw with South Africa…

It a lie….lol. He’s scared of the outcome of the match against The Super Eagles. After the boasting, he now realised his chance of winning is very very slim. Good news to the Nigerian team

Hmm….. you guys do not seeing what I’m seeing. Even if we escape against Libya’s team, do we have any assurance that we will qualify?

If we have a sound technical crew, this news should be nothing to us.

As a Nigerian, I will be so glad if we put our house in place. Sorry, this is not a news, Nigerians deserves more than this. God bless Nigeria!!!

If he was there or not, Nigerian boys will defeat them on Saturday and will beat them again in Tunisia. Believe me.

Forget the coach. All that the Super eagles need do is beat Libya home and away and we are through to the 2019 Nations cup.
Once we achieve that, we will be on 9 points while Libya will maintain 4 and we still have Seychelles coming to Nigeria, meaning that the game against South Africa away will be insignificant.

Our so  called Juju worked on him, Yeye  coach, four days before the match  he  balled out, he would soon blame it on our juju.I hope those guys don’t disappoint by spelling Libya, but  with Rohr  u never can telll which Eagles would show up.

  • It’s a big lie, it’s match fever that made him to resign, why did he wait till it was four days? Even if he will not be with the team, he will hear what befell his team, after boasting and ranting, he ran away.
