By Johnny Edward:
The interim coach of Libya, Omar Al-Maryami, is confident that the Mediterranean Knights will avenge their 4-0 loss to Nigeria in Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier when they host the Super Eagles in the reverse fixture tomorrow (Tuesday) in Sfax, Tunisia, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Al-Maryami replaced Adel Amrouche who resigned five days before the match in Uyo.
Al-Maryami says the Knights must attack the Super Eagles to stand a chance of winning.
“We were unlucky not to have scored minutes after we conceded, but this result hasn’t changed anything. We have a good team and we will fight,” Al-Maryami told CSN through an interpreter shortly before they lefy Uyo for Sfax.
“We have a young squad that is very ambitious. We lost the game due to some little details and the first goal we conceded affected us.
“Unfortunately, we lost three points but we are sure of taking them back in the second leg, but we must attack the Nigerian team to score.”
Libya are third in the Group E of 2019 AFCON qualifiers with four points from three games, while Nigeria are second with six points from also from three points. South Africa lead the group on seven points. Seychelles are at the bottom of the group.

Chaiiii this Libya coach start again . Ok till tomorrow
Eureka!!!!!
Hear him: “We have a young squad that is very ambitious…”.
Thank God it’s not our coach saying that this time around.
See you tomorrow in Sfax.
What a joke. You were unlucky your team received 4-0, were you sleeping then?lol.
I’m so happy that this Eagles has something unique. I will thank coach Rohr for that. They hungry for more Success, they want to achieve something big with Super Eagles.
I can see that they are going to Tunisia for another three points.
They have putting the victory over
the weekend behind them and ready
for anything Libya throw at them.
I can see the mentality of German machine in Nigeria team. If you do well, I will say it. Kudos to you sir Rohr. You are doing well now without sentiments, we are friends now but if you do the opposite, hmm… I will definitely tell you the koko ooo, laughs.
As we are preparing to qualify for Afcon, you will really have to convince me you are capable of winning trophies both in Africa and globally then, I will be your number one fan again.
I know this is achievable with prayer, right mentality, boldness and self confidence.
You and your players need to show this coach pepper and putting him where he and his team belong to. I know it won’t be easy but God is in control. Good luck coach. Happy new week my people. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!
Eheennnn….?!!! Am i dreaming.? Is this not the same Omo9ja that has been spewing vituperations and ‘hate speeches’ against Gernot rohr jus a week ago..?? Hmmm…fair weather fans. Success indeed has many friends…all of a sudden some people can ‘see the mentality of german machine in the nigerian team’…as if they have been blind since when Rohr was employed as SE coach. The same people that rated big mouth gragra Amrouche ahead of rohr and were even suggesting rohr be replaced with Amrouche. The same people who never saw anything good in rohr and have been calling for his replacement. Calling for the NFF to ‘do the right thing before it is too late’. Wonders shall never cease….!!! It is always so sweet to feed haters some hot humble pie the way the SE did ds last saturday.
@ Dr. Drey, I don’t really see sense in what you are saying. Are you saying that you don’t know that it’s Nigerians critics that made both Ighalo and coach did the right thing. I can still recallect when Okocha was telling our coach to play Iwobi as number 10 and instead of him to listen was fighting Okocha. When he eventually made u-turn and took to advice we all saw the result last Saturday. What you just said is good but I don’t see any sense in it.
E be like say someone has hacked Omo9ja’s account. Omo9ja did someone hack your account??? You better make sure. So you can come here and see the German machine in the SuperEagles??? The same Rohr that should be replaced by Juju man Amrouche??? Well like Drey said success always have many friends.
Nobody hack his account, Omo9ja has always been the most positive contributor who has nothing but kind words for Gernot Rohr.
Dr Drey, assuming all you said is true, learn to overlook some things.
Omo9ja criticised yesterday but is happy today let’s all celebrate.
Do you remember the story of the prodigal son and how his father welcomed him back with open arms?
I am not saying Omo9ja is a prodigal son but celebrate with him with his new found enthusiasm.
God bless you all.
#Omo9ja will see you all if by chance Eagles funfool again. Remember we will play South Africa last in South Africa. As of now the South Africans are leading the table. Nigeria should beat Libya on Tuesday and hope South Africa slip in their vs Seychelles match away. Watch these the bafanabafana match on YouTube, you will agree with me that they look more coordinated than us vs Seychelles. South Africa 6-0 vs Nigeria 3-0, #Omo9ja will be waiting with his hardened supporter #Chima E Samuels.
South Africa played Seychelles at home, we played them away. That South African team i saw, we will beat them at home. Nigeria plays well under pressure. Let them be more pressured to go for the win. I hope they (South Africa) slip in their away match to Libya…we should get at least a draw from tomorrow’s game tho. Rohr should give Isaac Success and Onyekuru more playing time, Kalu Uche should play more as a team and be less selfish….Ighalo really needs to be clinically…out of his 3 goals, only the second shows he is a striker…his first and third were sheer luck.
There is no room right now right now for Isaac who may be visiting ashewo room as we speak. He has improved in his recent games we know, but at the current form, Ighalo is fine in that #9 shirt. Especially as the “Golden boy Iwobi” and our Musa are there to feed him with those killing passes from the right and the left wings. Ighalo is in the killer’s mood right now.
No National Teams in African at the moment can with-stand Nigeria accept, perhaps, Egypt to be frank with you.
My friend, I would like to believe you but there are countries in Africa that can be too tough for Nigeria.
These are Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Tunisia.
South Africa vs libya 1-1 ….Nigeria vs Libya 4-0..remember that and always try to find the better side of the super eagles …besides those south Africans and in deep soup….i can’t just wait to watch the match
How do you analyse football? South Africa beat Seychelles 6-0 at home while the Super Eagles went away to play on an artificial turf and won 3-0. The same Libya team that the South African team could not score a single Goal against in Soth Africa were beaten 4-0 in Nigeria. WE WILL BEAT SEYCHELLES 8-0
Not Kalu Uche… This One Is SAMUEL KALU!!! We’re going to beat Lybia 2-0/2-1 tomorrow… We will top the group by goal difference after mauling Seychelles 10 nil @home..
I like this. It will put our guys on their toes and be serious.
Before we play Lybia people were saying they re more coordinated and play better than Nigeria some even said their coach is better and should replace Rohr now after beating them they no longer good South Africa is better team now cos the they beat Seychelles 6-0. Nigerians and their mentality.. The same Libya drew 1-1 with south Africa at how. Football is no mathematics
Nigerians truth is better, you people were not criticising Rohr but saying he doesn’t know anything even some people said if ighalo scores 10 against Libya it can restore his dignity. No one can tell me that ighalo doesn’t want to do well since. You people easily condemn coach and player without ponder over it. Let be patient and learn how to correct people not condemn them. He used the same ighalo to trash Libya. God bless Nigerians!!!!
Beat Libya tomorrow and we are as good as through.
Current standings SA 7 points, NGR 6, LYA 4, SEY 0
Given that we have one match against each team, we need a minimum of 5 points from the remaining matches to qualify. Seychelles is a 3 points banker. A draw against both SA and Libya will see us go through on goal difference.
BUT!!! A win will make the job easier. South Africa are the strongest foe. They beat us at home, albeit when our team was disjointed. I doubt they will beat us again.
Beat Libya, beat Seychelles we will be on 12 points with Libya only able to get 10 (if they beat Seychelles and SA). Draw with Libya and SA and Libya beat SA and Seychelles we will both be on 11 but we will have a superior goal difference
I’ve lost my calculator … and I’ve forgotten my high school calculus. SE please do me a favour: win all games!
@BigD, thanks for your contribution.
