–Eagles star on extended World Cup break
Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama was missing in action for Lille who defeated Maccabi Haifa 2-0 in Wednesday’s pre-season friendly.
The Nigerian shot stopper, who went 1062 minutes without conceding a goal last season, is expected to rejoin his teammates for the start of the new Ligue 1 season in the coming days. He was an extended break due to his participation with the Super Eagles at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
He starred as the Super Eagles reached the World Cup second round for the first time since 1998.
Goals from Ryan Mendes and Simon Kjaer in both halves sealed the win for Lille who will face Grasshoppers of Switzerland next Tuesday away in their third qualifying round UEFA Champions League tie.
Enyeama featured in all four games for the reigning African champions as they crashed out in the round of 16 to France at the Mundial. He conceded five goals in four games in Brazil and was one of the highly rated goalkeepers in the tournament.
