Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been tipped by England legend Gary Lineker to be the keyman – an alien of some sorts, whoso heroics will decide the match when Tottenham Hotspur host the Catalan giants in a Champions League Group B clash at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.
Spanish sports newspaper, Marca, reports that former England international Lineker was awed by the talent of Messi as he previewed Wednesday’s Champions League clash Between his two former clubss -Tottenham Hotspur Vs Barcelona.
In an interview with Barca TV, the Englishman previewed the match and tipped Argentine genius Messi to be the key.
“He is the best player to ever put on a pair of boots. It’s as if he sees the game from afar, at the same time as he is playing. He is not human,” Lineker said.
“He never rises to provocation, and he is a great example to both the world of football and to every young person who plays the sport.”
The footballer-turned-presenter then commented on the state of Barcelona’s squad and their coach, Ernesto Valverde.
“They have a squad that combines youth and experience, which is key in the competition, and a coach who has brought consistency to the group,” he continued.
Lineker, with his loyalties divided, finished by saying that he expected both clubs to progress to the knockout stages.
