Oya where are the bandwagons??? SuperEagles have silence the critics

    Nigeria 2: 0 Iceland

A much better performance from s better formation

    Now we are ready!
    Bring on Argentina !!!

  • Chima E Samuels 3 years ago

Aphilly quiet we are all Nigerians we voice it for them to sit up so stop being sentimental here. Great second half 352 was right like we all have been calling for. Musa Moses well done…. Ighalo please change your style of play I see for you…. God bless naija

    • But many of the criticism were flatly destructive. It is good to criticize but not in the annoying and destructive manner that some individuals go about it on this forum. When the criticism is because we want improvement, we don’t just write the whole team off COMPLETELY and keep promoting the notion that nothing good can come out of them.

      • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

Thank you Debo. You are a true fan, don’t mind China. He’s jumping on the bandwagon now after he flatly write the team off. Where is your brother Sunnyb? lmao! I will enjoy this victory for time indefinite. #FLY LIKE AN EAGLE INTO THE FUTURE# THE WINGS OF AFRICAN PRIDE

      • With all due respect Brother. Every one sees a game differently. As long as there are no insults and lack of respect, criticisms are what makes us aware of our weaknesses and help us find ways of correcting them. I am sure of one thing: no supporter wants to see their team lose, even if the team doesn’t seem to play well. Finally, congrats to the SE. Bring on Argentina and teach them a few lessons and show them the door. There is absolutely no room for compassion or error. Go for the jugular guys and let them wonder what hit them.

    Musa! Musa !! Musa !!!Musa!!!!

    Musa is our Hero oooo

  • Thank you very much super eagles for this win. Please let’s finish this up by winning our world cup nemesis called Argentina. God bless you guys.
    Super Eagles for next round

  • Sunnyb 3 years ago

I’m very happy we won, but I’m still skeptical about Rohr, his decision making is highly questionable. Kudos to Musa and etebo.

    • Bro Sunny, leave the skepticism aside for now and just bask in the joy of the moment.

I know you care, you just have a ‘peculiar’ way of going about it.

  • Musa issa goalllllllll, with this pace n argentina defence, i fancy our chance against them, good game guys n good formation mr coach.

  • Musa seems to enjoy scoring two goals in the same WC game. If he repeats this feat, he will become Africa’s leading scorer in the WC. May his good luck continue. I must say I was doubtful about Uzoho, even Victor Moses. I am glad that I qualified my statement by stating that I hope they prove me wrong and they did. This was a team entirely different from the one that played Croatia. Had they played this way, they would have bagged 6 points and on to the KO rounds. Play like this and Argentina will fall. Good luck brothers! We are behind you!!!!

  • Celebrate the moment, Argentina is also celebrating.
Pls play this team again, .maybe change you for Idowu or play Moses LWB and Ebuehi RWB.
Keep the rest of the selection and pls. Tell your boys “go get them” Argentina for the taking.
Let them watch the vedeos of Nig v Arg Nov 2017, and Croatia v Arg yesterday.

Watch and analyse them together as a team and ask everybody to contribute.

Again pls. Don’t sit back, attack from the first whistle,

We can still top this group.

    Up SE.

    • How can we top the group, if we like, we win argentina by 100goals n croatia conceed 100goals ,we r still gonna be 2nd, head to head advantage first b4 goals diff.

    • Greenturf 3 years ago

Why not Ogu for left back?
I think Ebuehi has the flair which Idowu is lacking.
Apparently Ogu is naturally left footed big and powerful.Well rather than Idowu I would go for Ebuehi.
      Meanwhile,the super eagles were impressive.
My opinion on why they were poor in the first game was bad formation and inexperience especially the newbies nine of them if I’m correct .However the players having experienced the world cup in their first game came out bold in the second.
For the tie against the Argies,I fancy our chances against them.Though a very difficult game it looks to be but we shall get the needed result to go into the next round.
I saw their matches so far though they have explosive players in the attack but are everywhere in the defence which I expect our fast strikers to capitalise on.
Finally Etebo should have been patient. A shame he was too quick to secure his future.Though I won’t blame him because initially he wasn’t first choice in the team not until the nightmarish performance of Onazi and Joel. Also this BBC analyst in Russia should cut us some slack after all their team aren’t any better losing to same Iceland we defeated.

  • Edoman of New Jersey,USA 3 years ago

Musa deserves a National Honor. It is my privilege to nominate our Musa for the National Honor today. Please, join me to request the President to do this.

  • Stick to 3-5-2 Formation Coach Rohr. No more experiments. fn2

  • @ Naija Man, the following was your post yesterday..
“Super Eagles stand no chance against Iceland. The best we can get will be a draw. If they manage to win tomorrow, I will be happy to come here to apologize.”

I responded to your comments that I will remind you to apologize. Now over to you.

  • I said it before that this eagle’s will surprise many, and you can see what happened today.

  • Congrats to SE but there are still a lot of areas that need improvements. Yhe last 15 minutes was not convincing. What is it with Rohr and Ighalo. Am Inthe only one who thinks Ighalo denied us at least two good attampts at goal within the short time he came on board? I pray Rohr won’t shoot himself on the foot with some sentiments he harbours with regard to some players.

    • Chima E Samuels 3 years ago

Ighalo was begging the coach to bring him on and his introduction brought the old bad play again I hope NFF sounds this warning to Rohr before we start the blame games.

      • Edoman of New Jersey, USA 3 years ago

Ighalo goes with bad omen. He should be banned from playing for Nigeria altogether. l thought the Couch was going to bring in Simy.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

I have a feeling Ighalo wants to leave the chinese league…and this world cup present a window for him to showcase himself to the world. And Rohr seems to be wilfully obliging him. He must have been thinking….”Coach abeg we r 2 goals up already na….biuko epp my career and let me go on and try to score na….biko..!”

  • I said it before that this eagle’s will surprise many, and you can see what happened today.

  • Ay-Rea 3 years ago

Nice effort from both sides. The 3-5-2 system, as we have all been saying, is the optimal system for these Eagles. The extra center back makes the difference. The Ice Men found it difficult to get into our box, and were restricted to long range shooting, which hardly troubled Uzoho. Musa took those goals like he was CR7 in disguise. Especially impressed with the first one. The ball control was top shelf. A very good effort by all the players. I fancy our chances against Argentina. This is a make or mar game for the Argies, a must win. So they will come out to play. By so doing, there will be gaps at the back for us to exploit with rapid counter attacks. However, a word of caution. The presence of Messi in any team gives that team a chance. How we cope with Messi on match day will decide the encounter. Fouling him is not the answer. The key with Messi is to stay with him, be “in his face”, and most important, deny him the use of his left foot, as much as possible.

  • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

I share the same sentiments too @debo. I don’t know Rohr’s obsession with Ighalo. Kelechi was absolutely fantastic today. We just gave Croatia 3 free points to be honest. The worst could’ve been a draw. I saw a remarkable SuperEagles today. Mikel was also fantastic dictating the pace of the game from deep. Uzoho is Nigeria’s undisputed numero uno. Infact every one except Idowu did extraordinarily well today.

  • Was I right or wrong?
Play 3 man defense. Ebuihi must be in the team if we were to beat Iceland.
When I saw the starting line up i didn’t border myself to watch because its waist of my time. At half time he brought in this lad, what did we see? A completely different SE and we won.
The truth is this young team of SE are capable of holding there own against the very best team in the world.
I have seen the best of this team and their worst. But if we must do well in this tournament Ebuihi must be in the starting line up.
The lad played out of his natural position but when he came on the whole denamics of the team changed.
This game is a dress rehearsal, the world cup is about to begin. Mark my words.

  • I’m still scared of Argentina. i hope history doesn’t repeat itself. SE deserve to be in 2nd Round.7

  • Edoman of New Jersey, USA 3 years ago

Our critics made this victory possible for the results we all see today. That is how you raise a child. Tell the Child whenever he is wrong and when he grow up , he will follow the right path. l thank everybody here who works tirelessly to make this
victory possible. Musa’s name will never be forgotten in Nigeria World Cup history.

  • The changes we have clamouring for that Genor Rohr should make was done and now we can now smile for once. I enjoyed the constructive criticism by most people here and you see the results. Omeruo, Balogun, Ekong were solid. The removal of Idowu was another smart move. Ebuehi really turned up in style, not afraid of going forward. Although the mis-kick there that caused the penalty but he really pushed the ball forward than Idowu.

    Uzoho: Rating (9)
Confidence within the sticks. Save a set piece that was goal bound. Made some instinctive saves and kept Nigeria in the game. He is really growing in confidence

    Ekong: Rating (8)
Showed a commanding performance and overall better performance in defensive duties. Cleared the ball away from the Iceland players.

    Balogun:Rating (8.5)
Was every in the pitch, his passes made the well needed transition from defense to attack. Cleared his lines. Missed a goal head opportunity. His overall performance was good.

    Omeruo: Rating (8)
Did his defensive duties optimally, was not caught wandering. Cleared some clear throat inbound passes. Good to have back.

    Mikel: Rating (9)
He played the defensive role so well. The transition form defence to attack was mostly by him. The marking, passes and attacking threat was very obvious. Controlled the game.

    Ndidi: Rating (8)
He did what he was meant to do, clearing and did it neatly. Good performance, had a goal bound shot but was deflected.

    Etebo: Rating (8)
Always ready to move the ball forward. He also assisted in defense to attack transition.

    Mosses: Rating (9)
Quick movement of the ball that created the first goal. Joined in the defensive duties and made some critical clearances. Although, he slowed the game in the first half as he refused to push the ball forward.

    Idowu: Rating (6.5)
Was not seen in the game most times. He didn’t use the wide flank, no attacking threat. Did his defensive duties. His subbed in the second half well merited.

    Iheanacho: Rating (8.5)
He gave out the ball quickly, his passes created chances. Always looked like a threat, dropped back to defend. In the first half lost some nice passed balls. His presence created confidence to his team.

    Musa: Rating (10)
Really asked questions and was merited 2 goals. His goal prowess was seen in the first goal and second goal. Very composed in front of goal and troubled the Iceland defense with his runnings. Would have loved to score a third goal.

    Ighalo : Rating (5)
Came in for Iheanacho. Would have scored the third goal but was clueless on how to go about it.

    Iwobi: No Rating
Didn’t play long to have a rating.

    • Have always wondered why moses can’t play as a wing back for the eagles. The constructive criticism works perfectly well… Who says we can’t beat Argentina just like we did in the friendlys. Up Super Eagles!

      • We need a real mental talk like one on one talk of the whole team with a psychologist. They look like they are afraid of white players and now Messi is there. We can beat them but SE needs that psychology boost.

  • Musa for president. Great 2nd half performance from our beloved SE. I have to admit the 1st half was poor today. A game and a half without a shot on goal made me doubt our boys a bit. I even called for the hauling off of Musa and he showed why the coach has total confidence in him by striking 2 beautiful goals. He could have even gotten a hat trick only for the bar to deny him. Idowu was very poor too and the injection of ebuehi stabilized the defence a lot. Better performance from the SE in the 2nd half. God was a Nigerian today.

    Vamos SE.

Tayo mind your speech I wonder why complete sports will allow this?

  • I want to thank Almighty GOD and also to thank Gernot Rorh, for listening to our plea to play this set of players that I HAVE BEEN POSTING ALL THESE WHILE PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THIS WINNING TEAM, STICK TO THEM AS YOUR FIRST 11.Iheanacho
    Moses Musa
    Mikel Ndidi
    Omeruo/Idowu Balogun Ekong Ebuehi
    as the first 11 eleven.
Super Eagles will score goals in multiples as they did worn against Argentina 4-2

  • Walking 3 years ago

Well, Joseph yobo made a suggestion to start Ahmed Musa and I was, is this guy okay? Definitely, the super Eagles played woefully in first 45minutes and I suggested the removal of Musa, and then he scored(twice).
One tactics that will guarantee our qualification from the group stage is to go for a win against the Argentines..
Uzoho looked more confident, omeruo did exceptionally well, Moses is well accustomed to LWB and never should Idowu start a match for us again.
Musa shot my mouth good time..
#I wish this was the first match..

  • polycarp onyebuchi 3 years ago

Nigeria won. Congratulations. But I must analyze the match critically. Iheanacho and musa fantastic. Ekong ,Balogun and most importantly omeruo were brilliant. The midfield was too weak and allowed too much space. Victor Moses only problem is his final touch on the ball. Gernot rohrs decision to bring on iwobi and ighalo when u are two goals up was a massive blunder particularly as the engine room etebo was out. One expected him to fortify the middle with ogu or obi Joel.

  • Omaskels 3 years ago

Am jst so happy dat SE has silence d critics ..psychologically d players are charged to take on Argentina .pls coach stick with dis formation but start Ebuehi..Tnk u Mikel for playing a deeper role. Congrats to all d positive pundits on dis forum..Bring on Albiceleste.! Up eagels.!

Where is @ Naija Man who said he would apologize should Super Eagles win?

  • Ay-Rea 3 years ago

A story of ice and fire. The Ice Men cometh, and fell flat! A strong team, no doubt. But the ice was melted today. Let’s hope they still have some ice left to face Croatia with. For Naija, the die is cast. Stop Messi and Argentina, or book an early flight home.
