Liverpool are set to break the transfer record for a goalkeeper after they agreed to pay Italian club AS Roma £67m up front for their Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Alisson is expected to replace Loris Karius whose position as Liverpool’s first-choice stopper has come under immense scrutiny even before the Champions League final in May, where his two mistakes contributed to Real Madrid winning 3-1.
Alisson has been linked with several clubs in the past one year with Chelsea and Real Madrid also interested.
Both Liverpool and AS Roma have been in advanced talks over the sale of the Brazil goalkeeper and Liverpool made an opening offer of £62million, which broke down into £53million up front and £9million in add-ons.
Roma have given permission for Alisson to speak to the Anfield club about moving to Merseyside.
