Lokosa: I Can’t Wait To Make My Super Eagles Debut Vs DR Congo

Junior Lokosa (shown arrow in the photo above, posing with Ogenyi Onazi and John Ogu –credit @thenff) is looking forward to making his debut for Nigeria in Monday’s international friendly encounter against the Leopards of the Congo Democratic Republic, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

The Kano Pillars striker has enjoyed a fine season in the Nigeria Professional Football League  having netted 18 times for the Sai Masu Gida in 20 matches which prompted his inclusion in the 30-man provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia by Nigeria head coach, Gernot Rohr.

The game against Florent Ibenge’s side provides the first big opportunity for the forward to stake his claim for a place in the final 23-man squad for the World Cup. Just a year ago, he was plying his trade in Nigeria’s second tier league,  the Bet9ja Nigeria National League with First Bank FC.

”I can’t wait to play my first game for the Super Eagles. It’s has been my ambition right from when I started playing football and it’s very close now,” Lokosa told CSN.

“The atmosphere in camp is great and it’s been a wonderful experience for me. The old guys have help me to settle down well.

“We are all looking forward to the game against DR Congo on Monday and I hope I will get the chance to play.”

  • Lokosa, I am so pleased for you. Your goal scoring record in the NPFL is phenomenal and you deserve to be in the Super Eagles camp rubbing shoulders with the big boys. From the clips I have seen on YouTube, you come across as one of those fox-in-the-box type finishers; lethal in the 18 yard box, good first touches, intelligent movement and timely runs . Whether you make the final 23 squad or not, your invitation (at the expense of big players like Kayode and Ideye), and camping should do your confidence and career a world of good. I will look out for you after the world cup; Good luck.

  • Once upon a time, we had a coach who would incorporate at least 1 home-based player in every department of the game going into major competitions.
Those days appear to be a thing of the past so you and Ezenwa have done brilliantly well for yourselves to be where you are today under the present climate.
