Jonny Lomax says England should be “proud” of their series win over New Zealand, despite the final Test hammering at Elland Road. England won the series after completing impressive victories over the Kiwis at the KCOM Stadium and Anfield, but were then ripped apart in the final Test in Leeds on Sunday, going down 34-0.
St Helens star Lomax admitted after the defeat it was a poor way to end the three-match series but, reflecting overall, he says they achieved their objective and must be happy with a 2-1 success.
He said: “We have accomplished what we wanted to do, win a series – that is what it is all about. We managed to win a Test series and that is something to be proud of looking back. “We have seen progress in this team. In the World Cup final we lost by one try, and now we have won a series.”
He added: “This final Test defeat will give us something to work on and I am sure there will be an emphasis on this rather than the other two (wins). “Sometimes you are as good as your last game but we let ourselves down. We have to look at that to improve and learn from it. That will stand us in good stead.
“That series was great with the lads and we can be proud of that – and that may be in the long term that I realise how proud I am to be a part of this England team.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
