Romelu Lukaku scored twice on his Premier League debut for Manchester United as they defeated West Ham 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Substitute Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba added the other goals in a clinical Manchester United performance.
West Ham, who held United to a draw at Old Trafford last season, held off the dominant hosts for much of the first half until Lukaku broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute.
Another new signing, Nemanja Matic, played a key role in the first goal after he intercepted a West Ham pass and set Marcus Rashford off on the breakaway. The youngster released a perfectly weighted pass for Lukaku to rattle in off the base of the upright.
Lukaku, who was bought for £75m from Everton this summer, added his and United’s second with a header after an angled ball from a free-kick by Henrik Mkhitaryan in the 52nd minute.
Martial, who came on for the lively Rashford, passed the ball into the net for United’s third goal in the 87th minute before Pogba wrapped up the scoring in the 90th minute.
