Newcastle United could be tracking some talented Portuguese players after a scout was spotted at an Under-21 international in Bangor. The Magpies were represented at the Uefa Under-21 clash alongside scouts from Manchester City and Cardiff but, unlike the other two clubs, Newcastle did not have any of their own players in action.
Rafa Benitez’s spy could have been watching a talented Welsh youngster but there was more talent in the Portuguese line-up – who ran out easy 2-0 winners.
The Portugal starting line-up included Nottingham Forest midfielder Joao Carvalho, who impressed against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup last month.
And Forest right-winger Gil Dias, who scored his side’s third goal in the City Ground clash, came off the bench midway through the second half.
Carvalho signed a five-year contract with the Championship side in June for a club-record transfer fee of £13.2m while Dias is there on loan from Monaco with the option to make the deal permanent.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
