Maikaba: NPFL Title Race Still Open

By Adeboye Amosu: Wikki Tourists head coach, Abdu Maikaba, remains upbeat on the chances of his side winning a first Nigeria Professional Football League title despite surrendering top position to Enugu Rangers at the weekend, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Maikaba's men were held to a 1-1 draw by northern rivals Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja, extending their winless streak in the NPFL to four games with Rangers coming out with a 3-2 away win against Akwa United in Uyo.

The former Enyimba and Kano Pillars assistant coach said he was content to see his side pick a point from the game against Tornadoes while declaring that the title race is still open.

"Though you would expect us to celebrate this as an away point, but it isn't what we intended to get," Maikaba told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"Our performance was good but our finishing wasn't that good, but with the position Tornadoes are in, we knew it wouldn't be easy.

"So we had to relax and play like that and at least we are not going back home empty handed.
"The league is still open, we still believe in ourselves of winning it."
