FSV Mainz 05 coach Sandro Schwarz has hinted that Nigerian striker, Anthony Ujah, is ready to make his first start since joining the Bundesliga club from Chinese Super League club, Liaoning Hongyun, in Friday’s home league game against Wolfsburg, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ujah has made three appearances for Mainz, all coming as substitute since rejoining them during the January transfer window. He is yet to score a goal.
Speaking during his Press Conference ahead of Friday’s home clash, Schwarz also said he has not decided if former Manchester City midfielder, Nigel De Jong, will also be in action against Wolfsburg.
“Ujah is fit enough to start tomorrow. Nigel De Jong has taken on his role commendably; we’ll see if he’s in the starting eleven or not tomorrow.”
Mainz will hope to make it back-to-back wins against Wolfsburg, following their 2-0 away win against Hertha Berlin last week Friday.
Mainz are currently 16th in the relegation play-off position on 23 points in the 18-team German Bundesliga table.
