Man United Midfielder Kehinde Eyes World Cup Spot After Meeting Rohr

By Johnny Edward:

Manchester United’s Nigerian youngster Tosin Kehinde has met with the Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr ahead of a proposed move to play for Nigeria, his country of birth, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The 19-year-old midfielder was spotted in a picture posted shaking hands with Rohr on Sunday ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Serbia in London on Tuesday night.

Kehinde and his father met with Rohr at the Super Eagles’ Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ealing base in London, Completesportsnigeria.com gathered.

“It feels good to have that kind of support back home,” Kehinde told Manchester Evening. “I’ve come close on occasion. All I need to do is continue to work hard

“Of course I’d be elated to play at the World Cup. It’s every footballers dream. Playing at any level for Nigeria would bring me pride. But I believe in myself enough to know I can bring something great to the Super Eagles first team.”

Kehinde trained with the Manchester United’s first team earlier this season and has featured 15 times for the Under-23s in the Premier League 2 for Manchester United, scoring once.

According to Manchester United’s official website, Kehinde is an astute passer of the ball with plenty of positional sense.

Just hold on there and continue your development, the future will surely beckon on you to represent the green white green. God will bring your talent out to be recognised for a first team shirt either at Man U or any good club very soon. Well done for remembering home and Naija won’t disappoint you when the right time comes.

  • I totally disagree with rohr if he intends to take him to the world cup. This guy should prove himself first. The world cup is just too early for him. He should try the u21 or u23 team first.

God bless you my brother for committing your future to super Eagles, I suggest in our next friendly matches they should invite him to train with the team. He may not go to the World Cup with them but he is definitely a future player and he might be a replacement for Mikel Obi.

Ifeanyi, you are the man. Check him out in youtube and See for your self. Lots of younger kids play for England ,Brazil and Nigeria when they were even young than Tosin.

That kid is very efficient… and has sublime passes in his legs….
He should be invited just like iwobi back then…

If he has the quality and the boldness to compete in such level he should not be kept waiting.
