Manu Garba: Flying Eagles Need To Improve Team Defence

Flying Eagles chief coach Manu Garba has pointed to his team’s defending as an area to improve after the U20 side defeated Nigeria Premier League champions, Kano Pillars, 2-1 in their second game of the expanded Super 4 Tournament in Abuja.

Garba who along with assistant, Nduka Ugbade, were obviously satisfied by the attacking threat his team posed spoke to the media after the game at the Abuja National Stadium.


“We still have work to do in our defense. Overall the team played well but we have our defending to improve. Luckily, we are expecting Wilfred Ndidi who will be joining us before the end runs out,” Garba explains.

Striker Taiwo Awoniyi scored one and provided the assist for Sulaiman Abdullahi to score the second while captain Musa Mohammed conceded an own goal.


However the Flying Eagles are hopeful that defender Prince Izu Omego who was rushed to the hospital after a nasty injury to his cheek is back ahead of their next game against Warri Wolves on Wednesday.
