Marko Open To F1 Exit

Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr Helmut Marko insists his team could target Le Mans success rather than F1 after the 2020 campaign.

The Austrian outfit may look for success with an Aston Martin Valkyrie-based hypercar if they do not see a future for themselves.

Red Bull were the dominant force in F1 from 2010-13 as they won four consecutive drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
However, Mercedes have since monopolised the standings, while Red Bull switched to Honda engines ahead of the 2019 campaign.

F1 owners Liberty Media are targeting a commercial revolution once the current agreement expires in 202,0 but Marko admits his team may move on to another challenge.

He told Autosport: “We have an agreement until 2020. As long as there is no engine regulation and no Concorde Agreement, neither Red Bull nor Honda will make a decision.

“However, we will certainly not become dependent again, as we have been in the past, when we were begging others and statements and promises were not kept.”
