Marseille Line Up Loan Bid For Agu

French club, Olympique Marseille, are lining up a bid to sign Nigeria international, Mikel Agu, on a season loan deal from FC Porto, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Agu has one year left on his current deal with FC Porto.

The Nigeria international who spent last season on loan at Turkish club, Bursaspor is seen as a good option to shore up the team’s midfield. He made 28 appearances for Bursaspor and scored twice.

According to a report on French website Le10sport.com, Agu is expected to arrive at the club before the summer transfer window shuts.

The 25 year-old was dropped from Nigeria’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

  • The news of Marseille’s interest in the services of Mikel Agu is one that gladens the heart.

A combative and hard working defensive midfield who keeps things ticking in the middle of the park, Mikel Agu has contributions to make in the Super Eagles if given the opportunity.

Never a fan favourite; not a lot of people’s cup of tea, yet, Agu has certain decent qualities about him which sooner or later will come to be recognised and (dear I say) appreciated.

If you can impress at Marseille maybe you could be signed permanently,
But competing with Andre angissa,Sanson and the likes in the midfield to get a spot will require a lot of hard work

I don’t see how Zambo-Anguissa is better than Mikel Agu. Anguissa is so error prone and he sits on the bench most times. As for Agu, he’s a very good defensive midfielder. What made most of us to dislike him is because Coach Rohr plays him as an attacking midfielder instead of a defensive one and that why whenever he comes in to that attacking role he begins to cause fouls and thereby making silly mistakes. If he’s deployed to that role in Marseille, he will definitely play well and also get game time considering the fact that Ligue 1 loves to play it rough and that kind of football style suits Mikel Agu perfectly. If deal is done, I’ll be more than happy for him
