Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud has declared his interest in Indomitable Lions of Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar, who is in hot form for FC Porto.
Aboubakar, who is expected to be part of the African champions’ team to face Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the crucial 2018 World Cup qualifiers in September, has begun the new season in superb form, scoring four goals in three matches.
“He’s a powerful, athletic guy. He’s a very interesting player,” Eyraud told SFR Sport.
The Marseille chief also admitted interest in signing Celtic star Moussa Dembele.
The France Under-21 international, currently injured, has attracted attention from few clubs in Europe following an impressive season for Celtic in 2016-17.
“I can’t guarantee anything on what is a sensitive, difficult subject,” he further told SFR Sport.
“We are indeed actively looking for an attacker. He [Dembele] is a young player, with power, speed, he’s athletic. He’s an interesting player.
“Since I started, I’ve tried to avoid speaking for the coach or the sporting director. I have my ideas, I express them, but I’m not speaking for the coach.
“The names mentioned are interesting, but there are others.”
Marseille have also been linked with wantaway Chelsea striker Diego Costa.
