Martins Bags Brace To Open Shanghai Goal Account

Shanghai Shenhua's Nigerian forward, Obafemi Martins, ended his goal drought of seven games in the Chinese Super League when he scored twice in his side's 5-0 thumping of second division side, Qingdao Jonoon, in the Chinese Cup on Thursday, reports.

The Super Eagles striker, making his first start for the club since joining, broke his duck from the spot in the 56th minute and capped his brace in the 72nd minute of the encounter to seal his side's win at the Hongkou Stadium on Thursday.

A brace from club top scorer Demba Ba and a sublime strike from Guarin Fredy sealed a place in the next round for Gregorio Manzano's side.

Shanghai Shenhua next face Guangzhou R&F in a league game on Sunday.

Martins has played for Inter Milan, Newcastle United, Wolfsburg, Rubin Kazan, Birmingham City, Levante and Seattle Sounders in the Major League Soccer before making a lucrative move to China with Shanghai Shenhua.
