As of Thursday morning, Seattle Sounders star Obafemi Martins holds a modest lead over Toronto FC’s Sebastian Giovinco, with Martins at 42.10 percent of votes cast vs. 30.59 percent for his Italian adversary.
Charlie Davies’ diving header sits in third place with 18.32 percent, followed by the FC Dallas duo of Mauro Díaz and Fabián Castillo at 5.02 percent and 3.97 percent, respectively.
Martins,voted MLS player of the week will hope to make it a double win as well as make it a second goal of the week win since the MLS season began over a month ago.
