Ex-Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins has missed out on the ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly ) award for the best player in the MLS for last season.
The Seattle Sounders forward,
along with New England Revolution’s Lee Nguyen and New York Red Bulls’ Bradley Wright-Phillips, were pipped to the award by LA Galaxy’s Robbie Keane.
Martins scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists as Sounders won the US Open Cup title and Supporters’ Shield.
He was also named in the three man shortlist for the MLS MVP award for last season, but lost to Keane.
