Former technical committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, John Mastoroudes, has praised the Super Eagles for their hard fought 2-1 win against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Sunday's Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying fixture but warned there is still a tough battle ahead of their next game against Algeria, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Gernot Rohr's men won the encounter played at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium courtesy of two beautiful strikes by Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho in the first half, while Collins Mbesuma scored the Chipolopolo's only goal in the second half.

The Super Eagles dominated proceedings in the first half but failed to match their hosts after the break and had to rely on the impressive Carl Ikeme to keep their lead.

Mastroudes was delighted to see the three-time African champions beat the Chipolopolo but has called for more work ahead of their next game against the Desert Foxes of Algeria next month.

"I'm happy we won the game. It was a tough game and our boys did well in the first half. Personally, the key thing I take from this game is the fact that we are coming home with the three points," the Greek- born football administrator told Completesportsnigeria.com

"But we still have to be objective and look at the fact that our boys didn't do too well in the second half.

"They gave the Zambians too much space and we nearly paid for that. The Zambians dominated the second half totally and we couldn't match them.

"Against Algeria in the next game it will be tougher than this and we must do better than we did today if we are to beat.

"The Algerians have better players compared to  Zambia and will be more difficult to beat."

The Super Eagles will host the Algerians at the Godswill Akpabio Stdium, Uyo on November 12.
