Match Report: Ikechukwu And Gideon Fires UNIBEN To First Leg Victory Over OAU.

Ikechukwu’s Early chip from inside the box and Gideon’s late header  secured a comfortable 2-0 win for UNIBEN in the first leg of the HiFL quarter final

The build up to the game was centred on the free scoring OAU side who have been very rampant, recording six goals in two games.

However, it took the Royals just ten minutes to open their quarter final account. Ikechukwu finished from close range with a lob after being  played in by big striker, Imade.

UBA Super Savers

UNIBEN continued to dominate and create chances as the OAU defenders seek answers to the difficult questions asked by the ever physical striker Imade. A long ball brought down and struck on the volley from outside the box hit the upright and another, saved by the goalkeeper.

Long balls continued to give the OAU defenders problems as Imade clearly overpowered the pair in the heart of the defence.

Confusion in the Giant’s defence! How to stop Imade? The team went down for their respective teams talk at half time. 1-0, UNIBEN.

In the second half, Imade kept on asking questions. This time, answers provided by the quick reflex of the OAU goalkeeper, Ik miskicked his follow up and no power in his rebound.

At the other end, OAU threatened. First an effort from Olaniyi, wide off the right post of the goalkeeper and another effort skied high by Seyi after breezing past two defenders.

Deep into extra time, Gideon extended Royals’ advantage. A well taken free kick from Qudus was flicked by the second half substitute into the Giants’ net.

And so it ended 2-0, another victory, another clean sheet for UNIBEN in front of their home fans.
