Catriona Matthew says she has spoken to Paul McGinley ahead of her debut as Europe’s captain at the 2019 Solheim Cup.
Scottish star Matthew has represented Europe nine times in the biennial women’s tournament – winning three times and losing the other six – but she will be stepping into the captain’s role for the first time at next year’s event at Gleneagles.

Irishman McGinley led Europe to a convincing 16.5-11.5 Ryder Cup victory at the same venue in 2014 and the 52-year-old has now been parting his wisdom onto skipper Matthew.
The 2009 Women’s British Open champion has revealed she received some good insight from the former Ryder Cup captain.
“I have spoken with him and he was quite interesting in how he put his pairings together, especially for foursomes,” Matthew was quoted saying by Edinburgh News. “He had obviously gone into every tiny detail. That was good.
“I went to lunch with him and asked one question and he spoke for three hours. It’s great to speak to all these people. I have also spoken to [winning captain] Colin Montgomerie a couple of times an/ d it’s great to get little snippets.”Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
