Papua New Guinea captain David Mead says 2019 could be the year for the Catalans Dragons and says the side need to push on. The French outfit won their first trophy last season when they bagged the Challenge Cup although they still struggled in the league and only just made the top eights.
Matty Smith, Sam Tomkins, Matt Whitley and Ben Pomeroy have all joined the club and PNG skipper Mead says they should now look to improve their results.
Mead told the League Express: “We have to step forward now and Steve (McNamara) has brought in some new faces, which can only improve the squad.
“I don’t know where I’ll be playing but put me anywhere from one to five and as long as it’s with quality players, I’m happy. The backs look strong for the new season and maybe it’s our time to shine.”
