Mee Eager For More Clarets History

Ben Mee feels making 100 Premier League appearances for Burnley justifies his move to the club and hopes there are many more to come. The 29-year-old is only the second Clarets player to reach a century of Premier League outings, with Ashley Barnes the first to the milestone.

He has made 257 appearances in all competitions after signing permanent terms in 2012 following an initial loan spell at Turf Moor.

The Sale-born defender has been part of Burnley sides that have seen the highs of promotion plus European football and the lows of relegation, but he has no regrets about signing on the dotted line seven years ago.

“It’s nice to get that amount of games in. From the first game I played in the Premier League, I think I have improved a lot and getting that time on the pitch is vital for any player,” he said.

“You never know how your path is going to go but I have been lucky enough to stay here and make it here in the Premier League. It definitely shows it was a worthwhile move for me.”

Reaching 100 outings in a maroon shirt was a significant moment for the centre-back but he is not done yet and wants to keep challenging himself to become a better player.

“When I moved here if you had said I would be playing 100 games in the Premier League I would have taken that all day long and hopefully there are many more to come in the next few years,” he added. “You are always looking forward and ahead to keep improving and playing games.”
