Former Arsenal star Paul Merson believes Chelsea need a good cover for Victor Moses ahead of the new 2017/18 season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Merson in his column for the Daily Star on Saturday identified four positions where he believes the new Premier League champions should make new signings.
Merson also stated that Chelsea will struggle to repeat this success next season with the added fixtures that come from playing in the Champions League.
"Chelsea need wing-backs as well," Merson wrote.
"The two (Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso) they’ve got have done well. But they were only playing once a week and that’s a graveyard shift. You can’t do that playing three times a week."
Moses has featured in 38 games for the Blues in all competition this season, scoring four goals.
The Nigerian winger is expected to play a part in Chelsea's final league game against Sunderland and in the in the FA Cup final next week against Arsenal.
"They (Chelsea) need a striker because Diego Costa will probably leave," Merson added.
"They also need another centre-half, one who’s not going to start much. That won’t be easy, unless they switch Cesar Azpilicueta to wing-back and buy a big-name defender to replace him.
"I wonder if anyone will take a chance on the two Juventus centre-backs because they’ve been phenomenal this season."
