MFM, Plateau Utd, Ikorodu Utd, Tornadoes Set For Glo League Baptism Of Fire

By Adeboye Amosu:

The 2015/2016 Glo Premier League season will see four newly promoted teams compete in the top flight. The four teams; Niger Tornadoes, Plateau United, Ikorodu United and Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) will take the places of Taraba United, Kwara United, Bayelsa United and Sharks who were relegated at the end of last season.

The quartet will look to compete favourably with the top sides in the domestic scene and most importantly secure their top flight status.
They will draw inspiration from clubs like Nasarawa United, Giwa FC and Wikki Tourists who have made a mark in the league since their promotion few seasons ago.
Nasarawa United have made a huge impact in the league since their promotion three years ago. They narrowly missed out on securing a continental ticket in the 2013/2014 season and finished third last season to book a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Wikki Tourists were also impressive last season, their first after gaining promotion from the National League. They sat at the top of the table at one point in the season and finished in a respectable fourth position.
Giwa FC who have spent two seasons in the top flight have also make a big impact too. They came close to securing a continental ticket last season and parade some of the best players in the league.
Here Completesportsnigeria.com presents the four promoted teams and their chances of survival next season…

The Minna-based outfit are back in the Premier League following their relegation in 2012. They went down on the final day of the campaign on goal difference after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rising Stars.
Coach Abdullahi Usman Biffo-led side won promotion from the National League Division A2 in convincing fashion and underlined their readiness for the upcoming season by recently winning the NNL Super Four in Abuja.
They look ready to compete favourably with the top sides in the top league, but they could still do well to add some experienced and quality players to their team.
The trio of Yakubu Alfa, Samson Adeyemi and Lukman Mohammed who were outstanding for the last term will also look to replicate their performances in the top flight.

The Jos-based outfit are not new to competing in the Glo Premier League. After winning promotion in the 2010/2011 season, they were relegated in the following campaign and have struggled to make a return to the top flight ever since.
They are however back in the Premier League after five unsuccessful attempts.
Bala Nkiyu’s men were far from impressive in the National League Super Four in Abuja and will need to bolster their squad to maintain their top flight status.
They can however count on the experience of former Super Eagles assistant coach, Bitrus Bewerang, to make an impact next season.

Ikorodu United will feature in the Glo Premier League for the first time in their history. Owned and chaired Mr Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Lagos-based outfit were guided to promotion by the experienced Belgian tactician, Maurice Cooreman, who has now reportedly left the club.
The club look certain to bring in some quality additions as they have enough funds to do that which will certainly help their survival bid.
They have a decent chance of doing well.

The second Lagos -based side that will campaign in the Glo Premier League for the first time next season. They are owned by the popular Lagos-based church, Mountain of Fire Prayer Ministries.
They look short of a side ready to compete in the top flight going by their dismal showing in the National League Super Four.
They too will need add top quality players to their squad to make an impact.
