Middlesbrough of England boss Aitor Karanka is confident of re-signing Nigeria’s Kenneth Omeruo before the end of the transfer window.
The Chelsea defender who is in the running for the Hyundai Young Player Award at Brazil 2014 has also revealed to his former boss Karanka that he is keen on rejoining the Riverside team.
“I hope that Ken is going to come here again because he has told me he wants to join us,” the Evening Gazette quotes Karanka as saying.
“He wants to join us, Chelsea want him to come to us, I want him and for this reason, I hope it is sorted as soon as possible.”
Omeruo played every minute for Nigeria at the World Cup in Brazil as they were knocked out by France in the round of 16.
The 21 year old defender will also contend with German pair of Julian Draxler and Matthias Ginter as well Algeria’s Nabil Bentaleb.
Also on the shortlist for the award are Belgian trio Divock Origi, Romelu Lukaku and Adnan Januzaj and French duo of Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane.
