Mikel Faces World Cup Ban

Mikel Faces World Cup Ban

Super Eagles midfielder,Mikel Obi risks missing the round of 16 game if he gets booked in tomorrow’s final group F game against Argentina and Eagles qualify.

The Chelsea man is presently on a yellow card following his booking in the 81st minute in Nigeria’s 1-0 defeat of Bosnia Herzegovina at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá and the FIFA disciplinary rule on yellow cards say players will receive a one match ban if they pick up a single yellow card in two different games from the beginning of the group stage.

If Mikel survives that and the Eagles make history by reaching the quarter-finals,the former Lyn Oslo of Norway star is still open to suspension if he gets booked in the round of 16 game.

Mikel is the only Eagles player who has been cautioned in the on-going FIFA World Cup If the Super Eagles beat Argentina tomorrow and top group F they will likely play against Switzerland who also can have one player suspended for the game if he gets a booking in their final group game against Honduras today while France can have the duo of Patrice Evra of Manchester United and Paul Pogba of Juventus missing if they top their group and Eagles come second in group F.
