Super Eagles midfield enforcer John Mikel Obi has confessed that the defensive approach of the Iranian national team was reason why his team could not break down a resolute opposition on Monday.
The Chelsea of England star stated that the tactics employed by the opponents made it hard to be broken down.
“We came out to win the game but the Iranians made it difficult because they didn’t come out to play. They had nine, ten players behind the ball all the time and that made it difficult to break them down.
Mikel, who was not in fantastic form himself in the 0-0 draw against Iran added: “They obviously came with a game plan to frustrate us and they succeeded.
“We are not happy with the outcome. We are frustrated,” the skilful midfield star who was adjudged the Man of the Match in the game by FIFA concluded.
The Eagles are left with no option but to defeat Bosnia in their next game on Saturday 11pm Nigerian time.
