Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has called on his teammates to get their Russia 2018 World Cup campaign off to a positive start when they take on Croatia on Saturday.
Mikel will captain the Super Eagles for the very first time at a FIFA World Cup when they file out against Croatia.
Both Nigeria and Croatia will be looking for their first opening group game win since France 1998.
While Nigeria shocked a star-studded Spanish side 3-2, Croatia beat fellow debutants Jamaica 3-1.
“Today is the day. Let’s get this WorldCup off to a strong start. #SoarSuperEagles. Thank you all for your support,” Mikel who would be appearing in his second World Cup after debuting at Brazil 2014, wrote on Twitter hours before kick-off.
The match at the Kaliningrad Stadium kicks off at 8pm Nigerian time.
