Mikel Plays As West Ham Compound Chelsea Woes

Chelsea’s poor run this season continues after they lost 2-1 to West Ham at the Boleyn Ground in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Looking to build on last weekend’s win 2-0 win against Aston Villa after a poor run of form, Chelsea fell behind following Mauro Zarate’s 17th minute goal after they failed to deal with a corner kick.

Things went from bad to worse for Chelsea in the 45th minute after Nemanja Matic was sent off for two yellow cards.

And at half-time, Jose Mourinho was also given his marching orders by referee Jonathan Moss.

At the start of the second half, Mikel Obi replaced Cesc Fabregas to protect the back four.

Then on 56 minutes, Gary Cahill drew Chelsea level from a corner kick.

And when it seemed Chelsea could take something out of the game, substitute Andy Carroll made it 2-1 with 11 minutes to go after connecting with a header off a Aaron Cresswell cross.

The defeat now sees Chelsea drop to 15th in the league table, while West Ham move temporarily to second place.
