Milan Make Mikel Move

Italian giants AC Milan have included Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi in a three man shortlist to revamp their midfield in the New Year.

Having recently reinforced their squad with Alessio Cerci and with Suso set to be finalised shortly, the Rossoneri are hoping to seal a deal for the trio of Mario Suarez, John Obi Mikel and Thiago Motta.

Mikel has played second fiddle at Stamford Bridge this season, with boss Jose Mourinho opting for a partnership of Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas in the heart of midfield.

The Nigerian international was linked with a move away from Chelsea last summer, with Besiktas and Inter Milan touted as possible destinations.

The 27-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Blues this season during their super start to the first-half of the campaign.
