Milivojevic Not Ready To Give Up Spot Kick Duty

Luka Milivojevic says his penalty miss in the loss at Everton will not affect his confidence when it comes to future spot kicks.

The Serbia international had the chance to open the scoring at Goodison Park last Sunday but saw his effort from 12 yards saved by Toffees stopper Jordan Pickford, before two late goals for the home side saw them snatch all three points.

The 2-0 defeat was Palace’s third in succession in the Premier League, leaving them two points above the relegation zone after nine matches.

It could have been a very different story had Milivojevic taken his chance but he insists he will not let the miss – only his second in the last 11 penalties – play on his mind the next time he steps up to the spot.

“I was 100 per cent sure that I was going to score,” Milivojevic told Sky Sports. “I step up to take responsibility to try to make something good and positive for my team and in the end you miss and after that you are punished in the last five minutes. It’s hard and very painful.”

“Just in the end I think I did a mistake in my last step before the shot and maybe that decided it, but I have confidence to take another one and score for my team.”
