A sum of N1m will be up for grabs by the overall winner at the 2016 Olympic Milk 5- A-Side Football Championship, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The competition bankrolled by Nutricima Nigeria Limited, who are the manufacturers of Olympic Milk, is into its second edition.
Second and third placed teams in the competition will also go home with N500,000 and N250,000 respectively.
The Most Valuable Player of the competition will win an all- expense paid ticket to the Etihad Stadium, home of English Premier League side, Manchester City.
Category marketing manager of the Nutricima, Raphael Agbaje, said the company is happy to support the growth of Nigerian football.
"The Olympic Milk 5- A-Side tournament was inspired by the need to create a platform to engage and support young football talents who have the energy and passion for the game and seek the right exposure," Agbaje stated at the press conference heralding the 2016 edition of the competition in Lagos on Tuesday.
"Last year, the maiden edition of this great tournament recorded a huge success with over 2,500 participants across different cities in Nigeria.
"This year, in partnership with Intu Sports and Neo Media and Marketing, we are taking it steps higher and will cover two more cities."
To participate in the competition, each team is expected to purchase one carton of 400grm Olympic Milk Powder. Registration will commence on September 6, 2016 and run till October 28, 2016.
The grassroot competition will officially kick off in Lagos on November 2 and 3 after which the train will take off to seven other cities in search of raw football talents.
