Minute By Minute: Nigeria Vs Congo #AYC2015

1- Nigeria kick off the game. The Eagles lose possession but recovers. However the Nigerians are flagged offside
2- Musa Mohammed gives away the ball. Congo take initiative but Nigeria seize back possession
3- Mohammed’s cross is deflected but Congo’s keeper, Pavelh Nozila gathers the ball
5- GOAL! Ifeanyi Matthew latches unto Bernard Bulbwa’s pass and dispatches the ball after a great control
6- The Congo keeper tips the ball over for a corner after the Eagles forward Bulbwa bore down the goal and fired the ball straight at him
8- The Flying Eagles earn a corner but the delivery is poor. Nigeria’s Mohammed is flagged offside afterwards
10- Concern for Nigeria as Taiwo Awoniyi is writhing in pain from a challenge. The medics attend to him.
Freekick to Nigeria.
12- Throw-in to Nigeria. They however concede a freekick; Ifeanyi bringing down Binguila. Nigeria keeper Enaholo catches the ball firmly
14- Ifeanyi Matthew misses a great chance, shooting wide from an Awoniyi good pass
16- Throw-in to Nigeria. Bulbwa win the Eagles a freekick. Mustapha is down in the Congo penalty box holding his face
20- Chidera Eze concedes a throw to Congo.
21- Matthew’s long range pass is saved by the Congo keeper. Ifeanyi Ifeanyi returns from a sideline treatment with a head bandage
25- Ifeanyi’s incisive pass is cut out. Matthew’s shot afterwards does not trouble the Congo backline
26- Nigeria keeper Joshua Enaholo red-carded for a foul on a Congo forward, moments after Nigeria had threatened to score. Congo get ready to take a freekick while Olorunleke Ojo comes on for Enaholo.
The game is temporarily suspended for upward of three minutes after the incident leading to the red card
31- The ball hits the wall and Nigeria’s Izu Omega defends brilliantly from a Congo counter afterwards
33- GOAL!! Taiwo Awoniyi wins a penalty after he is brought down by Congo defender, Miguel Itoua Mamic. Musa Mohammed scores from the spot. NIGERIA 2-0 CONGO
37- Olorunleke Ojo tips Hardy Binguila’s half volley over the bar for a corner
40- Ojo collides with Musa as the Nigerian defence make to snuff out the danger posed by Congo’s Constantine Bakaki.
42- Congo Fred Ngoma’s shot is wayward
43- Silvere Mbou fails to direct his header on target for Congo from a cross
45- Four minutes have been added after the first 45
45+1- Musa loses the ball but soon gains it. His cross from a run down the right channel is poor though
45+3- Bulbwa’s long pass is cut out, unable to meet Awoniyi
45+4- The ref stops the game for half time
HT: Nigeria 2-0 Congo

45- Congo kick off the second half. Substitution Congo. Number 10 (Moise Nkounkou for 17, Fred Ngouma.
47- Ifeanyi Ifeanyi loses the ball to the chargin of coach Manu Garba
48- Congo’s Deldy Goyi could not wrap his foot round the ball from a Silvere Mbou’s knock down. Ball saved by keeper Olorunleke Ojo of Nigeria.
50- Musa’s cross not well directed by Awoniyi’s header though he is flagged offside
51- Freekick Nigeria. Ifeanyi Matthew brought down.
53- GOAL!!! Nigeria 3-0 Congo. Taiwo Awoniyi wins Nigeria another penalty as he is brought down by Cosme Atoni Mavoungou. Musa Mohammed scores from the spot.
55- Ojo saves brilliantly from a dangerous play while Ifeanyi Ifeanyi sweeps the ball away.
57- Ojo tips over the bar a shot from Mbou. The same playet forces the keeper to spill the ball for a corner.
59- Awoniyi is flagged offside. The Flying Eagles show-boating now as the Nigerian fans cheer trhem.
65- GOAL! Nigeria 3-1.Faria Ondongo’s cross is smashed home by Mbou from six yards.
64- Awoniyi’s textbook header from Mustapha’s cross is punched out by Congo keeper for a corner.
67- Ojo could not save from a shot the first time of asking. A relief for the Nigerian team
69- Nkounkou wins a freekick for Congo
70- Nigeria substitution. Wasiu Jimoh comes on for Bernard Bulbwa.
72- Bello wins a freekick for Nigeria.
74- Congo’s Hardy Binguila flagged offside. Wasiu Jimoh wastes an excellent chance to score Nigeria’s fourth goal, blasting over Awoniyi’s pass
77- Mustapha’s strike is wasted as his shoot is off target from Ifeanyi Matthew’s pass
78- Binguila’s shot isn’t bad but misses target by some whiskers.
80- Nigeria win a corner. Jimoh concedes possession from a promising passage of play. Congo counter swiftly but Moise Nkounkou’s shot goes wide
85- Jimoh acrobatically clears the ball from the Nigerian penalty area.
86- GOAL! Taiwo Awoniyi scores Nigeria’s fourth goal. The striker lofts the ball over the head of Cosme Atoni, then controls brilliantly with his chest before unleashing a stupendous thunderous finish
88- Ojo saves from a Congo freekick at the second time.
90- Four minutes added after regulation time.
90+1- Awoniyi’s shot from the right side of Congo backline from a Mohammed cross goes high and wide.
90+3- The ref ends the game. Nigeria wins 4-1 and qualifies for the semi-finals which hands them the ticket to the U20 World Cup in New Zealand
