Nigeria vs Algeria Line-Ups
Daniel; Sincere, Ndifreke, Amaefule, Oduduwa; Azubuike (c), Mohammed; Tiongolo; Osimhen, Etebo, Ajayi
The first game between both teams in the group stage ended goalless. The Algerians are hoping to qualify for the Olympics since 1980.
The two teams have their national anthems rendered. First is Nigeria's. The parade of handshakes follow.
90+4- FT: Nigeria 2-1 Algeria. Nigeria win the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations
90+3- Chizoba Amaefule fouled. Free-kick. Algeria desperately look for a goal and an easy way to find a goal. Azubuike Okechukwu booked (yellow).
90+2- Mohammed Benkhemassa's fierce shot saved by Daniel.
90- Usman Mohammed fouled. He requires a medical help. 4 minutes of added time confirmed.
86- Seth Sincere hacked down by Houari Ferhani. The ball is cleared by the Desert Foxes. The Nigerians are almost there as champions.
Junior Ajayi pushed by an Algerian defender but hes carded for kicking the ball away.
85- Algeria's keeper Abdelkadir Salhi concedes a corner under intense tension.
82- The Algerians are rather too physical against their Nigerian opponents.
Azubuike Okechukwu adjudged to have committed a free-kick from about 25 yards out. Emmanuel Daniel organises his wall. He saves from a direct kick by Zakarya Haddouche.
80- Free-kick to Nigeria. The referee warns Emmanuel Daniel against time-wasting
77- An Azubuike Okechukwu shot blocked and cleared. Abdelharfat Belguit out, (Akgeria substitution)
75- The ball is cleared in the Nigerian box after shots fired hit the Nigerian bodies. A Nigerian corner from a counter attacking effort cleared.
Algeria atttack now but Daniel plucks the ball in the air from a cross.
72- Kufre Ebong tries to keep the ball without going out but fails to do so with Junior Ajayi ready to strike.
70- Victor Osimhen wins a corner for Nigeria. The corner was poor, went out of the byline. Nigeria have 57% of the possession, Algeria with 43%. Osimhen out, Bature in (Nigeria substitution)
67- Amoukrane wins Algeria a penalty. Tombara Tiongoli who conceded a freekick prior to that penalty subbed for Kufre Ebong. Emmanuel Daniel saves the penalty!
65- Usman Mohammed yellow-carded for a lunge on Algeria's Ousamma Chita. It is yet another FK for Algeria afterwards but Emmanuel Daniel claims the ball from a tricky Chita flick in the box
63- A looping header by Abdulhakim Amokrane goes wide, to the relief of Emmanuel Daniel.
62- Free-kick to Nigeria. Meziane out, Zakarya Haddouche in (Algeria substitution) follows.
61- Succession of Algerian passes comes to nought as Sincere clears the ball in anger.
57- Segun Oduduwa loses the ball at the edge of the box but thankfully the Algerian threat is nullified. Meanwhile Mewziane concedes a free-kick.
55- Azubuike Okechukwu breaks play in midfield but the pacey Algerians get a corner. Daniel punches out a header from the ensuing header inside the box.
50- Algeria conjure a beautiful build-up but Meziane's final shot whizzes off target.
48- The Algerians continue their counter attacking runs despite Azubuike Okechukwu down on the ground. The north Africans' final shot was tame. They are resorting to kicking Nigeria's players.
47- Free-kick to Algeria. Chita brought down by Etebo. The Nigerians soon get a throw-in. Victor Osimhen is kicked where it hurts most. Free-kick to the Dream Team but ball is lost.
45- Algeria kick off the second half.
HT: The referee blows his whistle. It is Nigeria 2-1 Algeria.
45- Chizoba Amaefule clears a dangerous ball floated into the Nigerian box, for an Algerian corner.
43- Zinedine Ferhat checked by Ndifreke Udoh. Meanwhile Etebo is brought down. Free-kick. And a throw within seconds to Nigeria.
Goal! Oghenekaro Etebo bursts forward with great pace from midfield, bbeating his markers before dispatching the ball beyond Abdelkadir Salhi. 2-1 for Nigeria.
40- Victor Odimhen bears down at goal but Abddellou blocks him.
37- Ndifreke Udoh brings down Khammasaa. Free-kick, but the north Africans flagged offside.
35- Ayoub Abdellou gets a yellow card for fouling Etebo. His free-kick is blocked by the Algerian wall.
33- Great flick by Tiongoli but the Nigerians get a free-kick after what seemed like a lost chance.
32- Nigeria get two free-kicks in succession. However an Algerian; Zakaria Draoui is down receiving treatment. .
30- Algeria's captain Ryad Keniche feels the pain of a bad landing on the floor after a tango with Osimhen.
Algeria equalise. Emmanuel Daniel badly positioned. But Segun Oduduwa's header off a cross means Nigeria concede an own goal. 1-1.
25- Victor Osimhen's follow-up to a brilliant shot by Etebo checked but Ndifreke is down injured. Attended to by medics.
22- Another Nigeria attempt but Algeria were lucky not to concede. The Dream Team VI's counter attack stopped.
20- Free-kick by Algeria was tame; Emmanuel Daniel picks the ball and the Nigerians are building from the rear.
18- Oghenekaro Etebbo commits a foul. Abdulhakeem Amoukrane lets fly a shot. Goal-kick Nigeria.
15- Victor Osimhen tries a smart dribble but fouled, no penalty or freekick. The Eagles keep possession.
13- Etebo scores from the spotkick. 1-0
12- Nigeria get a throw-in won by Junior Ajayi. However the Algerians get a free-lick and lose it with Oghenekaro Etebo with a seering pace. He is brought down. Penalty!
10- Excellent ball control and a shot by Victor Osimhen from a Segun Oduduwa cross. Nigeria's first chance to score.
8- Victor Osimhen ready to pounce on the loose pass from the right flank but gets a throw-in
7- The Eagles clear the ball rather clumsily. The Algerians are flagged offside.
5- Ndifreke Udoh wins Nigeria a freekick. Algeria's keeper Salhi saves it.
3- Algeria commit a foul. Tiongoli the victim. The ball is cleared.
