Nigerian-born striker Sean Ugo Okoli was in action for 18 minutes Saturday night for ten-man MLS side New York City coached by former Arsenal star Patrick Viera, in their 2-1 home win against Chicago Fire, reports Completesportsnigeria.com
Former Barcelona and Spain star David Villa scored New York City's first goal with a brilliant half volley two minutes into the second half to claim his 14th MLS goal of the season while Fredrick Brilliant headed home from close range for his first goal of the season in the 50th minute -though he required some treatment afterwards.
David Accam scored a stunning goal for Chicago Fire in the 54th minute and there was a bit of delay with the officials deliberating whether the ball crossed the goal line.
Okoli came off the bench in place of Jonathan Lewis in the 72nd minute
Okoli went close to scoring eight minutes before the end of the match when he ran into space to meet a through pass from David Villa but a teammate went for the same ball with him and the opportunity passed by.
Chicago Fire paraded former Bayern Munich and Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for 90 minutes.
There was an injury scare for Villa in the 90th minute and he was substituted by Ghanaian Kwame Awuah.
