Moses Accepts BBC Pundit’s Apology Over Diving Saga

Nigeria international winger, Victor Moses has revealed that former Wales striker, John Hartson has directly apologized to him regarding comments he made on the BBC’s Match of the Day 2 last weekend.

Hartson was critical of Moses after the Potters winger was awarded a penalty in last Sunday’s 2-1 home win over Swansea.

“That for me is a terrible dive and a total lack of professionalism from Moses. I think Garry Monk has a right to be angry. He (Moses) has cheated.

“It’s one thing the FA coming out and charging Garry Monk – what about charging Victor Moses for diving? I would (charge Moses) because you can’t dive. That is a blatant dive,” Hartson said when reviewing Stoke City’s win over Swansea at the weekend.

However, following discussions between Stoke City and the BBC, Hartson spoke to Moses on Friday to offer apologies for any offence he may have caused.

Moses said he was pleased with the discussion with Hartson and will now “move on” from the furore that erupted following the incident which earned the Potters a penalty.

“I’m grateful to John for having taken the trouble to ring me to apologise for his comments. I’m happy to accept his apology and I am now keen to move on,” Moses told the Stoke City official website, www.stokecityfc.com.

The club further announced on the website that the matter “is now closed as far as the club is concerned.”

Meanwhile, Stoke City manager, Mark Hughes has also thrown his weight behind Moses following the incident.

Hughes said Moses was fouled and expressed dissatisfaction over the criticism that came the way of his Nigerian acquisition, especially from the Swansea manager, Monk.
