Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses, was on target for Chelsea who defeated champions Leicester City 3-0 at the Stamford Bridge in Saturday’s English Premier League lunch time kick-off.
Moses scored Chelsea’s third goal after a brilliant interchange of passes with Nathaniel Chalobah.
It was Moses’ second EPL goal for Chelsea this season after his first came in a 3-0 win against Burnley.
Also on target for Chelsea were Diego Costa and Eden Hazard who gave Chelsea a 2-0 first half lead.
In action for Leicester was Ahmed Musa who had a very poor game and had to be replaced in the second half.
It was a dominant display by Chelsea who bossed the EPL champions from start to finish, limiting the Foxes to only a handful of half chances.
Moses, who missed Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia last Sunday with injury, had Chelsea’s first good chance on six minutes but his deflected cross was saved by Kasper Schmeichel.
In the seventh minute, Costa opened the scoring for Chelsea from a corner, hitting the ball onto the roof of the net from close range following a Nemanja Matic flick on.
Chelsea went close again in the 13th minute but Marcos Alonso’s cross to Moses who was well positioned but cut out by Marc Albrighton.
Eden Hazard had a chance for Chelsea on 26 minutes from the edge of Leicester’s 18-yard only to see his effort blocked by Wes Morgan.
David Luiz almost doubled Chelsea’s lead on 28 minutes but hislong range free-kick came off the upright.
In the 32nd minute, Hazard made it 2-0 for Chelsea, rounding Schmeichel before slotting into the net.
Luiz had another opportunity from another free-kick in the 41st minute but fired way off the target.
On the restart, Musa went close for Leicester on 52 minutes only to see his cut-back claimed by Thibaut Courtois.
A minute later, Musa’s dummy set up Albrighton for a Leicester chance but his shot went over the bar.
In the 57th minute, Moses had a great chance to extend Chelsea lead after going one-on-one against Schmeichel but couldn’t find a way past the Danish keeper.
Leicester had their best chance on 64 minutes as Luiz turned Albrighton’s cross against the upright.
In the 68th minute, both teams made changes with Nathaniel Chalobah replacing Pedro Rodriguez, while the duo of Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani going in for Jeffery Schlupp and Ahmed Musa respectively.
Chelsea almost had a third goal on 73 minutes through N’Golo Kante but his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by Morgan.
Moses made it 3-0 to Chelsea in the 80th minute slotting the ball into the near post after a superb one-two with Chalobah, and then celebrated with back flips.
Two minutes later, Moses was replaced by Ola Aina.
Chelsea almost scored a fourth on 89 minutes through Alonso following Costa’s assist but his shot missed target.
