Champions Chelsea edged 10-man Watford 4-3 in a thrilling Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Monday.
John Terry, Cesar Azpilicuerta, Michy Batshuayi and Cesc Fabregas were the scorers for Chelsea while Etienne Capoue, Daryl Janmaat and Stefano Okaka scored for Watford.
Super Eagles forward Victor Moses was not in the Chelsea squad while Isaac Success was also left out of the Watford side.
Nigerian defender Ola Aina, who started off from the bench, was brought on for Kenedy for his third appearance for Chelsea this season.
After edging the early part of the game, Chelsea eventually took the lead in the 22nd minute through Terry who bundled home Willian’s corner.
In the 24th minute Terry turned from hero to villain as his attempt to head back to Asmir Begovic was intercepted by Capoue who headed past the on-rushing keeper to make it 1-1.
Chelsea took the lead again in the 36th minute thanks to Azpilicueta who fired from the edge of the box from a corner.
Batshuayi made it 3-1 to Chelsea in the 49th minute tapping into an empty net after being teed up by Nathan Ake.
Two minutes later Watford reduced the deficit off Janmaat who went on a solo run, dribbled past Ake before slotting coolly beyond Begovic.
Watford were back on level terms in the 74th minute thanks to Okaka who rifled home a low shot from Tom Cleverley’s cross.
In the 88th minute Fabregas sealed the win for Chelsea as he latched onto Willian’s cross to end the game 4-3 in Chelsea’s favour.
And in the 92nd minute Prodl was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Pedro Rodriguez.
Chelsea’s final game of the season is against relegated Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
