Simon Scores In Gent, Anderlecht Draw; Sadiq Dropped, Emenike Fires Blanks

Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon, was on target for Gent in their 2-2 away draw against Anderlecht in the Belgian league on Sunday.

It was Simon’s first league goal of the current campaign.

Simon, who played the entire game, scored on 21 minutes to make it 1-1 after Youri Tielemans had given Anderlecht the lead two minutes earlier.

Also in Belgium, Wilfred Ndidi made an appearance for Genk who pipped visiting Zulte-Waregem 1-0. Ndidi saw action for 90 minutes.

In the English Premier League, Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute as Manchester City beat West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad to go top on the log.

Raheem Sterling (brace) and Fernandinho scored for City while Michail Antonio got West Ham’s goal.

Rio 2016 bronze medallist, Umar Sadiq, was left on the bench for 90 minutes in Roma’s 2-2 away draw against Cagliari in a Serie A match.

Still in Serie A, Joel Obi was overlooked for selection in Torino’s 5-1 demolition of visiting Bologna.

In Turkey, Nigeria defender Godfrey Oboabona and his team Rizespor were thrashed 3-0 by home side Karabukspor.

Oboabona made a 90 minute appearance for Rizespor.

Former Super Eagles forward, Emmanuel Emenike, featured for Fenebahce but fired blanks in their 3-3 home draw against Kayserispor.

Emenike was later withdrawn for Fernandao in the 67th minute.

In another Turkish league game, Nigeria U-23s star Aminu Umar was in action for Osmanlispor who threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against visiting Genclebirligi.

Umar was yellow-carded on 63 minutes before making way for another Nigerian Raheem Lawal in the 73rd minute.

Former Super Eagles forward Chinedu Obasi featured for AIK who were forced to a 0-0 home draw against Hammarby in Sweden.

Obasi was later substituted for Alexander Isak.

His Nigerian team-mate John Chibuike replaced Amin Affane while Dickson Etuhu was benched for 90 minutes.

In Finland, Nnamdi Oduamadi saw 90 minutes of action for HJK who beat KuPS 1-0 with Gbolahan Salami and Azubuike Egwuekwe also on parade.

The Nigerian trio played the full 90 minutes of the game.

Ex-Flying Eagles star, Ifeanyi Matthew, did not make an appearance for Lillestrom in their 2-2 away draw against Viking in the Norwegian league.

While Matthew was an unused substitute, Samuel Adegbenro played 90 minutes for Viking.

In Denmark, Rilwan Hassan and Paul Onuachu were in action for Midtjylland who held home side Viborg to a 0-0 draw.

Hassan was on for 90 minutes but Onuachu made way for Raphael Van der Vaart in the 79th minute.
