Super Eagles forward Victor Moses made his first home appearance for Chelsea this season in their 2-0 win against Everton at Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League on Sunday.
Moses, who was suspended for the 3-2 defeat to Burnley, was lovely as Chelsea eased to a comfortable victory. He was later replaced by Andreas Christensen on 88 minutes.
Two first half goals from Cesc Fabregas and Alvaro Morata sealed Chelsea’s second win of the season.
Chelsea are now fifth on six points in the league table.
Five minutes into the game Chelsea conceded a free-kick but Fabregas was on hand to clear the danger.
Few minutes later Chelsea almost took the lead off a superb bicycle kick by Pedro Rodriguez which skimmed off the bar.
Chelsea went close again but goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made two saves, first from David Luiz before denying Pedro.
Chelsea eventually took the lead in the 27th minute through Fabregas who fired a low shot past Pickford following an assist from Morata.
In the 34th minute Everton had their first attempt on goal but Gylfi Sigurdsson’s effort did not trouble Thibaut Courtois.
With five minutes left, Chelsea went 2-0 up thanks to Morata who headed in Cesar Azpilicuerta’s cross after the referee played the advantage from a foul on Moses.
It was new signing Morata’s second goal for Chelsea in his third league appearance.
Pedro went close for Chelsea three minutes into the second but could not add enough bend into his curler.
In the 55th minute it was the turn of Moses to go close for Chelsea only to see his shot off a Willian back-heel hit the side-netting.
Moses had another pop at Everton’s goal on 61 minutes but his shot was well saved by Pickford.
Azpilicuerta had a chance to extend Chelsea’s lead after catching Fabregas’ corner with a volley which was blocked by Everton defenders.
With few minutes remaining Ashley Williams had a chance to pull a goal back for Everton but his effort landed on the roof of the Chelsea net.
On the stroke of 90 minutes Willian tried a shot which was too close to Pickford which he saved.
