Super Eagles winger, Victor Moses, once again impressed during Stoke City’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Moses’ all round pacy play was a constant threat to the Spurs backline, winning free-kicks and getting opponents booked.
Stoke took a two-goal lead through Bojan Krkic and Jonathan Walters, before Nacer Chadli pulled a goal back for Spurs.
However, any hope of a late Spurs comeback was dashed when Moses latched on to a cross field before skipping past Kyle Naughton, who had no choice but to bring the Nigerian down, leading to his sending off.
With Stoke having the numerical advantage Spurs failed to force an equaliser, further compounding their early season poor form.
Moses’ fine form has lead to talks of Stoke making his loan move permanent in the summer but the Nigerian and his manager Mark Hughes have played down the reports.
Meanwhile Stoke manager Mark Hughes praised substitutes Geoff Cameron and Marc Muniesa following his side’s win against Tottenham at White Hart Lane after which the players head off for the international break though Moses was surprisingly left out of Nigeria’s 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Congo and South Africa .
That was one positive to be thankful for in the book of manager Hughes during the game though not directly involving Moses.
Defender Phil Bardsley was forced off with a groin injury in the first ten minutes and Marc Wilson followed him to the treatment room after injuring his hamstring 15 minutes later.
However, the two replacements slotted seamlessly into the Potters back line.
“From my point of view that was the most pleasing aspect of the game to be perfectly honest,” Hughes said to the club’s website .
“They understand that everybody’s going to be needed and everybody needs to train correctly like they always do and when they get an opportunity they’re ready and can make the impact they need to when called upon,” Hughes enthused.
Stoke City are still without the injured Eagles star, Osaze Odemwingie, for the rest of the season .
