Moses Simon Out, Troost-Ekong Doubtful For DR Congo Clash

Moses Simon Out, Troost-Ekong Doubtful For DR Congo Clash

By Kayode Ogundare in Uyo:

Monday’s friendly international between Nigeria and Democratic Republic of Congo has been hit by injuries with Belgium-based Moses Simon already ruled out of the tie while defence stalwart William Troost-Ekong is a big doubt, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Simon sat out Friday morning’s training on the sidelines with a big ice pack on his thigh, as well as close attention from the medical staff.

Troost-Ekong also went under the Masseur’s treatment and it is not sure if he would be fit in time for the game billed for Port Harcourt.

Wilfred Ndidi continued his special training on the sidelines but participated in a light workout with the rest of the team later in the training session.

I don’t no y some Nigerians cannot just be positive for once, if u don’t have somtin positive to say, just keep mute

  • For someone who says “no player is indispensable” I have to say I am praying and fasting for Moses Simon to be fit, firing and included in the world cup squad. I so like the guy’s game: speed; pace; acceleration; aggression; precision; directness; dribble, say it, he’s got it! Moses Simon, please stay fit. He reminds me of the old-fashioned Number 7s or 11s. Having benched Musa during the qualifiers, it will be tougher for Simon this time around as Iwobi and Musa are breathing heavily down his neck! So Simon, stay fit to keep the completion stiff! FOOTBALL WAS MADE IN NIGERIA!

If you check it you will find out the person praying for our players injury is one of the players dropped from the 30man eagles list. I suspect Sadiq the tall guy.

DR Congo match is an exhibition game. Nothing at stake, nothing to lose. Except for those looking to impress and get on board the plane to Russia.

as a matter of fact, genart rohr will need to rest Leon balogun, troost eking, etc, we don’t really need this match, I don’t know why they are so keen on playing this Ebola match. If balogun plays this match, how fit can he be to play in Russia. We need ola Ian’s,, agboo, Agu,ogu, and Co to play. I don’t want more injuries, this one they are all injured, obi is injured, Simon, ndidi, repost, balogun, Tyrone, Shelby, are all injured. Who are we now taking to the World Cup. I don’t want him to even play iwobi n iheancho on Monday. Na only them manage dey fit now

  • dis is heart break.

Honestly, l don’t support the idea of friendly matches weeks to the world cup.it is very risky playing such days to the world cup. DRC on 28th, England on the 2nd June and Czechs few days to kick off of the competition. Why are we indirectly shooting ourselves on the foot? Rest your best players and use those that will be back up for such matches. If any injury crop up,the player may not get out of it until after the world cup. Sometimes players can hide such injuries just to get listed for the competition. However, DRC players are very rough on the field of play.

It is well with the super eagles. There must be massive support for them now.

  • If this match eventually takes place, to really allow us the fans assess the team i will love to see the following players
    Goalkeeper: Ajiboye (Akpeyi)
    RB: Ola Aina
    LB; Elderson
    CD: Eze and Omeruo (Awaziem)
Midfielders: Ogu, Agu (Etebo) and Agbo
Forwards: Musa (Iwobi), Nwankwo (Iheanacho), Lokosa.

The guys in the bracket are subs should be used in d 2nd half just to have a run. This is just my opinion though and a better suggestion or improvement is welcome but ultimately the coach knows best.

No thank u.. we dont want.. and thank God its not up to u to decide…

  • Gernot rohr shud change d injured players as quick as possibu in order to blend dem 2geda for the world cup. no coach would go to such world stage tournament with injured players. dia are players like efe ambrose, nwakali, onyekuru, sadiq e.t.c.that are fully fit 4 d mundial

  • i would take onyekuru over simon any day.. I don’t think it was fair to call up players whom u know are injured to assess them and not afford the same opportunity to onyekuru who has recovered fully as a matter of fact!! It’s well, coach knows best

  • fear not brother, all na mind game.
