Victor Moses was not listed in the matchday squad for Chelsea whose 19 game unbeaten streak this season came to an end on Saturday after they were thrashed 3-1 by London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur at the Wembley Stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Moses has not featured for Chelsea in the last eight games.
Goals from Dele Alli, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min saw Tottenham Hotspur record a three-goal margin over the Blues for the first time since 1985.
Substitute Oliver Giroud scored a consolatory goal for Chelsea in the 85th minute of the encounter. It was Spurs consecutive victory over Chelsea for the first time in 31 years.
Alli opened the scoring with a flick header in the eighth minutes. The goal was his sixth goal in five matches against Chelsea. Kane added the second from long range for his 11th goal of the season.
Son blitzed past three Chelsea defenders before firing a low drive past Kepa Arrizabalaga for Spurs third goal of the encounter. The goal was Son’s 50th goal for the club since he joined.
Tottenham had lost their last four meetings against Chelsea at Wembley but they were quick out of the blocks on Saturday and made the first attempt on goal through Kane but Kepa Arrizabalaga kept the England captain’s header in the fourth minute.
Alli’s flicked header from a Christian Eriksen’s right-sided free kick beat Arrizabalaga inside eight minutes.
Son had forced Kepa into a save down low prior to that vital second goal before Kane long-range shot beat Arrizabalaga.
Stunned by Tottenham’s second goal, Chelsea simply could not sustain any pressure and again relied on Kepa to keep out Toby Alderweireld and Son inside the box, pulling off fine saves to deny both players.
Spurs put the game out of Chelsea’s sight 10 minutes into the second after Son showed raced with the ball 50 yards – dodging challenges from Jorginho and Luiz in the process – before bending it past Arrizabalaga.
N’Golo Kante wasted a chance to drag his side back into the match when guiding a Ross Barkley cross wide of the target, but Tottenham could easily have extended their lead as the chances kept falling their way.
Kane fired over when picked out by Serge Aurier six yards from goal and Dele’s curler clipped the top of the net, with yet more poor Chelsea defending on display for both opportunities.
The final goal of the match would go Chelsea’s way, however, as Giroud came off the bench to nod a Cesar Azpilicueta delivery across Lloris, although it was not enough to prevent a first league defeat in 13 matches for Sarri and his men.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
