Nigeria star Victor Moses was impressive, while Ahmed Musa made a rare start as Chelsea came from 2-0 down to beat 10-man Leicester City 4-2 after extra-time in the third round of the English Football League Cup at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.
Nigeria captain Mikel Obi, who is yet to play under new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, was once again left out of the matchday squad despite several changes.
A brace from Cesc Fabregas and a goal each from Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicuerta sealed the win for Chelsea.
Shinji Okazaki scored Leicester City’s two goals.
Okazaki gave Leicester the lead on 17 minutes, beating Asmir Begovic with a header after Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa’s cross came off Cesar Azpilicuerta.
Okazaki doubled Leicester’s lead on 34 minutes, chesting Danny Drinkwater’s cross before slamming the ball over Begovic following a poor clearance from Pedro.
Cahill headed in Cesc Fabregas corner to make it 2-1 on the stroke of half time.
Azpilicuerta equalized for Chelsea with a well taken volley in the 49th minute.
In the 89th minute Marcin Wasilewski was sent off for a foul on Diego Costa.
Fabregas put Chelsea 3-2 ahead in the second minute of extra-time after a beautiful build-up which involved Eden Hazard and Costa.
In the 94th minute Fabregas grabbed his brace to put Chelsea 4-2 up volleying into the roof of the net following a clearance by Leicester defense.
