Mourinho Sees Real Madrid, Inter Links As Tremendous Honour

Jose Mourinho says it is a “tremendous honour” to be linked to his former sides Real Madrid and Inter Milan as the polarising Portugese awaits his next opportunity.

Mourinho was sacked by Manchester United in December last year, and has been linked with a series of clubs including Madrid, Inter and Benfica. The 55-year-old dismissed the idea of returning to Portugal at this stage of his career, but admitted to being humbled by the possibility of returning to either the Bernabeu or San Siro where he won league titles with both sides.

“If any professional, a manager or a player, is wanted by a former club, it means we did something positive,” Mourinho told Portugese publication Correo da Manha.

“When any professional returns to a club it is a tremendous honour. They’re not signing someone they don’t know, they are going for someone they know, someone who has already been there.

“But when I am not managing, I love that people do not talk about me and the best way to achieve that is for me to also not talk.”

Mourinho spent two seasons at Inter Milan following his first spell with Chelsea in 2008, winning two Serie A titles and one Champions League trophy. He then moved to Real Madrid in 2010 where he managed Los Galacticos for three seasons, winning one La Liga
