Jose Mourinho may be ‘The Special One’ – but he’s not the boss in his own home.
For the 52-year-old Chelsea manager admits his wife and two kids rule the roost.
This month Mourinho landed his third Premier League title in his second spell at the Blues.
But in a candid and revealing interview with ‘The Big Issue’, the Portuguese coach confesses he knows his place when it comes to being with his family.
Mourinho’s wife and daughter are both called Matilde, but have the nicknames Tami and Tita, while son Jose Junior is known as Zuca.
“My wife, and my son and my daughter have the biggest influence on me that’s for sure,” he says. “And why? Because they are the bosses and control everything in the house!
“And in relation to my job they don’t try to influence, but at the end of the day they have a big influence because when it comes to make big decisions where to go, where to work, when to change, on this kind of thing they have a big influence on me.”
Mourinho may know how to construct winning teams – he has bagged the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan and eight titles in four countries – but confesses he’s no handyman.
“I’m a disaster round the house (practically),” he tells ‘The Big Issue’. “I can do nothing! The only thing I can do is I’m very organised about my things, so I don’t disturb people at the house with my things.
“My office is always very well organised and my clothes plus everything are very organised. So I don’t really help, but I don’t disturb.
“My strongest quality is I try to be the best family man. I want to be the best father and husband. I want to be the best son, cousin, uncle and best friend. I always try for this so I would like that to be my strongest quality.”
